Alfonsina Strada.

                                    ALFONSINA STRADA

Alfonsina Morini was born the 16^th of March in 1891.The city where she was born is Italy, 

exactly in Castelfranco Emilia between Módena and Bolonia .Her parents were farmers. She married with Louis Road in 1915

When she was 10, her dad gave her and old bicycle. Since then Alfosina started practising. At the age 14, she started taking part in many races, without the permission of the parents. After some time, she was discovered by her mother .For trying her to give up cycling, she said her that Alfonsina had to marry and start a new life far away from her house.

She married when she was 24 with Louis Strada. He was mechanist and a cyclist that helped her to not give up .So, thanks to that help , she started taking part in professional races.

In 1917, she took part in “Giro de Lombardía”.

She finished the 32^nd but she could meet great cyclers. But the most important event she took part in was the Giro of Italia. She went bravely, although women were totally forbidden to take part in.

Although she could start without being discovered, in the half of the race, the people discovered her. She was disqualified, but a sponsor encouraged her to finish the race. Thanks to him, she finished before many people.

The most important part of this story and the moral is that she went bravely and helped many other women to take part in, that were afraid; and that´s why she´s a very important woman that must be remembered in History.

Finally she died in 1959.
